About the doctor

Dr. Mary Alsup grew up in the Corpus Christi area,  graduating from Ray High School and receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Dr. Alsup then went on to graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO) in May 2013. During her time as a student there, Dr. Alsup had the honor of being inducted into Beta Sigma Kappa National Honor Society. Being a recent graduate, she is trained with the most up to date literature, studies, and treatment approaches. Dr. Alsup's first externship was performed at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma where she performed laser procedures and provided comprehensive eye exams in both hospital and rural settings. Her second rotation was at the Good Neighbor Health Clinic in Houston, Texas where she provided eye exams to the underserved community, which included providing much needed exams to thousands of children. Other rotations included time at the Eye Center of Texas and the Texas Eye Institute, both of which specialized in diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. Her final rotation was at UHCO with the prestigious Dr. Rosa Tang neuro-ophthalmologist in a vigorous clinic evaluation of neuro-eye diseases such as multiple sclerosis. When not caring for the vision needs of her patients, Dr. Alsup enjoys photography, travel and watching movies.
